I have recognised that as a newly qualified practitioner it is important that I form good counselling habits. UPTV is broadening my perspective, honing my creativity and reminding me how my theoretical learning can be practically applied. It helps me feel safe as a therapist and empowered to practice more effectively. I have already spotted areas in my own style that needed tweaking and have amended it accordingly. The main things I really love are the stories, metaphors, and reframes he uses. I just have not found anyone else who is such a master at these skills and so generous with sharing them!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>I feel like I&#8217;m learning a new reframe or story or metaphor all the time and it&#8217;s actually got my brain thinking so much in that way that I&#8217;m finding it easier and easier to come up with my own. Yesterday, in fact, a client I have helped with guilt, sleep, quitting smoking, and is now in for reducing her drinking, said to me, &#8220;I love your stories.&#8221; I thought afterwards myself, &#8220;Wow that&#8217;s nice! I&#8217;m guess I&#8217;m learning well from the best then.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>I also find the explanations of what Mark is doing really helpful and often pause the video to take it in.
